Rice Krispie Witch Hats

One thing I love about Halloween is all the tasty festive treats you get to eat. While looking at all the delicious Halloween inspired treats on Pinterest, I had come across this recipe and thought I would give it a try while sharing it with you!

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup Margarine / Butter
  2. 4 cups Marshmallows
  3. 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  4. 4 cups Rice Krispies
  5. Black Coloured Food Colouring (0r any colour you wish)
  6. Green M&M’s (or any colour you wish)

Serving Amount: 8 Witch Hats

To begin making the Rice Krispie witch hats, place 1/4 cup of butter into a large pot on the stove at medium heat. Next, measure four cups of marshmallows and half a teaspoon of vanilla and stir until mixture  is melted.

After melted, turn off the burner so the marshmallows do not get burnt. Next add the black food colouring (or desired colour) into the pot and mix throughly until all the Krispies are completely covered evenly.

** Remember to add the colouring in slowly. You can always add but never take back!

Once it is all mixed, let the mixture cool down before you start to mould. Once it is not to hot to touch, begin sculpting into the witch hats. Start with making a circle and add a cone shape on top. Adjust till you get your perfect witch hat form.

After creating all the witch hats and while the Rice Krispies are still warm, decorate the hat with your desired candies – I chose green M&M’s. If you find the candy to not stick well, use frosting to keep them in place, as well as a nice extra flavour!
